Why average growth is not enough

A grade 6 student at the 9th percentile who makes average growth every year is still about 16 RIT points below grade level three years later.

Catching up takes more than average growth. It takes the right support, for the right student, as early as possible.

Calculated from the Riverstone demo dataset with NWEA conditional growth norms.

MAP Consulting

From test scores to classroom plans

  1. Share your export

Send your MAP Growth combined export, or run the tool on your own computer.

  2. Get student diagnostics

Each student gets a color-coded profile with a focus area and suggested strategies.

  3. Teachers finalize the plan

A named teacher reviews and approves each plan. Workshops help your team do this on its own.

  • Private. The tool runs on your school's computer. Student data stays with you.
  • Evidence-based. Every strategy links to a What Works Clearinghouse practice guide.
  • Teacher-led. No plan goes out without a teacher's approval.

Hi, I'm Mr. Vargus.

Educator providing student support consulting services to international schools.

I have over a decade of teaching experience, most of it in the Asia Pacific, including seven years at international schools in China. My work centers on learning support and English language acquisition.

I started Vargus Advisory to give schools all over the world the data tools we need as educators: clear, private, and built for the people who work with students every day.

Outside work, I play guitar, practice martial arts, and study languages.
